2022-2023 A year of expansion

As we emerged from the pandemic in 2022, we began our first in-person exchanges in the summer of 2022. We are very grateful for the new dedicated staff team that brought 1000% to every moment. We are also humbled by the opportunity to serve so many global change makers as they develop skills and new perspectives.

Youth Leadership Programs on Climate Change – in collaboration with the U.S. Department of State, we are focusing on youth leaders in Northern Europe, six African countries and USA to address climate adaptation, resiliency and clean energy. 2023 will include programming for over 80 young leaders.

Skills for Success ® is an employability skills training program developed and implemented by Amideast in partnership with Legacy International. Over 140 Palestinian young professionals between 20 and 33 years old have participated in Amideast Skills for Success® programs through Legacy International both virtually and in-person in the U.S., with different professional themes for each session.

TechGirls Global – Legacy International has successfully directed this flagship program of the U.S. Department of State for the past 10 years. In 2022, it expanded from 62 girls from 12 countries to 136 girls from 36 countries/territories.

Saudi Young Leaders Exchange Program: Legacy International in partnership with U.S. Embassy in Riyadh has trained over 300 Saudi and US adults since 2014. The Saudi Young Leaders Exchange Programs (SYLEP) is a three-week multi-phased leadership experience in the U.S. for Saudi current or recently graduated university students. The program takes place in cities across the U.S. (including Washington, DC, Austin, Detroit, Pittsburgh, and Chicago). SYLEP supports participants in building leadership, entrepreneurship, and professional skills, promotes civic responsibility, appreciation for cultural diversity, and fosters community engagement. In the summer of 2022, we hosted 2 cohorts of Saudis (close to 75 participants) in USA between July and August.

Professional Fellows Program - The Professional Fellows Program (PFP) for economic empowerment in the Middle East and North Africa is a two-way exchange program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and designed to promote mutual understanding, enhance leadership and professional skills, and build lasting, sustainable partnerships between mid-level emerging leaders committed to strengthening their communities through social entrepreneurship and workforce development. We have been operating this program since 2011. Our program takes place in Virginia and Washington D.C. with Fellowship placements in either Austin Texas or Washington DC. In 2023 we expand to 54 participants from Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco and Tunisia.

Global Youth Village – COVID still causes significant uncertainty and staff shortages. The Legacy team decided to postpone to re-opening of Global Youth Village so we can adequately shepherd the expansion of all the programs listed above and the new staff team towards success.

We know there are many needs to support and we appreciate any amount you can give us. Your donation goes directly to providing a leader who is planning community initiatives with the coaching and mentoring they need to be successful.
